SHIRE's goals are to:
1. Serve as a trusted source of
information and analysis on racial and ethnic health
disparities for communities, government agencies,
educational institutions, corporations and foundations.
2.
Raise awareness of the implications of health
care policies on communities of color among policymakers,
health care leaders, and the public.
3.
Inform the public policy debate by educating stakeholders
and decision makers on the impact of racial and
ethnic health disparities on the health of our nation
and promote effective strategies for eliminating
the gap.
4.
Provide technical assistance and consulting to allied
organizations and individuals working to eliminate
health disparities, promote the health outcomes
of communities of color, and take charge of their
own health.
5.
Serve as a catalyst and convener by bringing together
people of different cultures, disciplines and communities
to learn from one another and take collective action
to advance the positive health outcomes for communities
of color.
