Welcome to Health Information Technologies Collaborative for Underserved Populations Registration

The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Minority Health, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), the Summit Health Institute for Research and Education, Inc. (SHIRE), and Apptis, Inc. are honored to invite you to participate in the launching conference for the “National Health IT Collaborative for the Underserved: A Public-Private Partnership for a Healthier America”. We are launching this initiative at this strategic time in our history to contribute to improving the health of underserved communities utilizing a partnership enterprise approach. The Collaborative’s specific purpose is to help accelerate the reduction of health disparities experienced by populations in medically underserved areas through the use of advances in health information technology. This effort will continue through October 2009.

The conference is scheduled for Thursday, June 12, at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. as significant cornerstone event during National Health IT Week 2008. This event will provide attendees an opportunity to hear from speakers and panelists who are leaders in their subject areas. The session will provide you with an opportunity to share your thoughts and ideas on the current issues and approaches to solutions that involve health information technology or promote its use in key areas. These areas will include education and community outreach, public policy formulation, workforce development/ training and funding.

During the meeting our presenters will be providing information about cases, practices or activities that have been successful, and pending HIT-related initiatives, including legislation, that would support reducing health gaps.
